Of course, there are still plenty of examples of really bad podcasts. I suppose you might say it's easier to hear examples of better podcasts because there are a lot more great podcasts available. I don't care how clean you make the audio signal. The reason why that's not going to be the case is the same reason it wasn't the case a year ago. So there certainly are some improvements to make your podcast sound better.
